Why I advise on my own
In private equity I learned how buyers think: anchor low, use diligence to chip away at the price, and win the fine print. Then I bought a company myself, signed the SBA personal guarantee, and spent year one learning what the diligence missed. Those two seats are rare in one person, and they're what you're hiring.
I keep the practice to one advisor on purpose. You get my judgment on every number and every call, not a junior associate's. It also means I take on a limited number of engagements at a time, and I say no when I can't help.
The deal file
| Structure | Asset purchase financed with an SBA 7(a) loan |
|---|---|
| Price, multiple, down payment, SBA terms | Ranges coming soon |
| Today | About 26 luxury pools a year, roughly $7M in revenue, five Florida offices |
How I handle conflicts
I own an operating company and I sometimes buy businesses. So I decide my role at intake, before I see any financials. If I represent you, neither I nor any company I own will bid on your business, your financials never reach Southern Pool Designs, and every engagement letter discloses my licenses and ownership interests up front.
Licensing
Florida treats the sale of a business as a real estate transaction for licensing purposes. My Florida broker license is in process. Until it is issued, I don't list businesses for sale or take success fees. Advisory work like assessments, deal reviews and the Owner's Board is open now.
